With our help, the Dwarf Sports Association attended the 2013 World Dwarf Games in Chicago, USA.
The sports in the tournament included football, boccia, archery and basketball. The GB team returned triumphantly with their haul of 192 medals and a second position on the overall medals table.
Not only did they achieve phenomenal success, the competitors and their families found the visit to the World Games an extremely fulfilling experience. Parents of dwarf children met and shared their experiences, siblings (tall and dwarf) met and formed instant friendships both within the UK Dwarf Community and worldwide. The Dream It Believe It Achieve It funded trip turned out to be rewarding and enriching ways far beyond sport! “To see people like us from all around the world come together to play sport on an equal level was awesome!”
In the background, Dream It Believe it Achieve It is also aiding the scientific research into Dwarfism to help educate parents, teachers and medical personal in the diverse condition. This will help enable the increased and safer participation in all kinds of sport for individuals with Dwarfism as well as enabling those individuals with Dwarfism to participate in sport at a higher level.
